My approach is to simply show up as a real person who is genuinely invested in helping. I got into this field of work because I wanted to be supportive to people going through their own personal crisis. I think sessions can often bounce from being a bit light to being in the trenches dealing with those heavier traumas. 

I strive to make a place of non-judgment and safety where everything can be on the table for exploration and discussion. I have never found those stale environments to be helpful and believe that healing is done best through strong rapport and healthy use of profanity!
